Broker Switch… Difficult Decision?

I had to make a decision that I felt guilty about making. But, prior to joining a brokerage, I told myself that if I did not have enough success or guidance in 3 months, it would be time for me to make a change. Yes, business success is MY responsibility but a strong foundation is crucial to further a real estate career. In my opinion, I should be able to pick up and move to anywhere in the country or internationally and have the necessary  skills and tools to work and build a real estate business. If there is any uncertainty or a lack of confidence about doing this, it’s time to make an adjustment. Please don’t misunderstand me, I enjoyed my previous broker and I am so appreciative about what all of them have done.  But, my success or not affect me and my household. And so I had to weigh the pros and cons of each

Broker A
– one-on-one coaching
– broker accepts calls
– friendly agents
– Agent website
– Webinar training

– Poor quality training
– No collaboration among agents

Broker B
– Multi-levels of training
– Agents share listings (open houses, ads, internet marketing)
– Train the trainer training  (Agents teach courses)
– Agent recruiting training  (Profit sharing)
– One-on-one coaching
– Group training
– Cross-training and convention with all franchises
– Fun team culture
– Agents work as a team/respond to inquiries
– Two websites and a personal agent mobile app
– Training outside of your office
– More franchises across the country for referrals
– Special divisions  (Commercial, Luxury Homes)
– Daily action items for agents
– Agents team to reach goals (trade show collaboration, lead generation activities as a team)

– Higher split (but with a cap then I keep 100%)
– Higher fees

When choosing a brokerage, one must consider his/her own needs, goals, and how comfortable you feel with the fellow agent team mates, the broker (s) and administrative staff. After you define those things, you can choose the brokerage that’s right for you. As far as switching brokers, you must never feel guilty or emotionally tied down about switching brokers. Success should always be your primary goal. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Until next time, enjoy life’s journey!
